Nestled in the quaint village of Sleights, just a 15-minute drive from the centre of Whitby, you’ll find Oakwood. Spread across three floors, this spacious and charming holiday home provides the perfect retreat on the North Yorkshire coast. Sleeping up to eight guests, you’ll have everything you need for a relaxing self-catering stay with both coast and country right on your doorstep.
Upon entry to Oakwood, you’ll be welcomed into the cosy, yet spacious living area. With a neutral colour scheme, two comfy sofas and a log burning fireplace, this space feels snug and welcoming. A home from home, you can cuddle up with your loved ones in the evening and enjoy quality time together. There is also a TV so you can keep on top of your favourite shows during your stay.
With stylish navy blue cabinets, wooden worktops and white wall tiles, the kitchen is seriously stylish. Fully equipped for all stays, the kitchen boasts a fridge freezer, microwave, oven, hob, kettle and toaster. It also includes the added luxuries of a dishwasher and a washing machine.
A great place to socialise, the dining table is just off from the kitchen. Another perfect spot to catch up is the breakfast bar which can be found in the kitchen itself. The stools face into the kitchen making it ideal for chatting and relaxing with a coffee or helping prepare food with the rest of your party.
Head upstairs to the first floor and you’ll find two bedrooms and the first bathroom. With a comfy super-king size bed, the first bedroom is spacious and stylish. There is traditional wooden flooring and cool teal coloured walls. You’ll enjoy your nights sleep at Oakwood as the bed boasts the finest quality bedding and linens. Please note that the bed in this room can be split into two singles upon request.
The second bedroom is also home to a super-king size bed which can be split. With a tortilla colour scheme on the walls, this space feels cosy and is guaranteed to provide a relaxing environment.
With grey tiles and silver fittings, the first floor bathroom is an ultra clean and modern space. It boasts a bathtub, separate shower, a WC and a basin.
Take the stairs up to the second floor to find the third and fourth bedrooms, and the second bathroom. The third bedroom continues the traditional feel that runs throughout Oakwood with a sloped ceiling and a window looking out onto the quiet street below. The comfy king-size bed has plush bedding and crisp linens. There is ample storage space as the room has bedside tables and a wardrobe.
Oakwood’s fourth bedroom is home to a double bed. With a traditional wooden frame, the bed matches the traditional decor in the room. You’ll also find bedside tables, lamps and a wardrobe here.
The second bathroom features a shower, WC and basin. There is a skylight window in the sloped ceiling giving you the perfect view of the clouds and stars above.
Head outside and you’ll find a fully-enclosed courtyard, ideal if you’re bringing your little ones with you. You’ll also have access to a barbeque and outdoor furniture.
Oakwood is located in the village of Sleights on the outskirts of Whitby and is a short 15-minute drive to the town centre.
Walk along Church Street and you’ll wind up at the East bank where you’ll find narrow mediaeval streets dotted with boutiques, pubs and fish restaurants. Climb the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary. You can also discover the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’.
Walk over the swing bridge which sits over the River Esk and you’ll find yourself at the West side of town. It’s here you can discover cosy pubs, fun arcades and even more fish restaurants! Continue along the lively road until you reach the beautiful, blue flag West Cliff Beach which is lined with idyllic beach huts.
Step outside of Whitby and you’ll uncover a haven of woodland and moorland. Whitby forms part of the North York Moors National Park so it’s the perfect place for long walks.
Oakwood is within a short driving distance of Whitby town centre, and within 30 minutes’ driving time of Pickering, Staithes and Saltburn-by-the-Sea.
Sleights has great bus and train links to surrounding areas including Whitby, and Middlesbrough. The 95 bus runs from Whitby to the village of Lealholm, passing through Sleights, making it very accessible to visit the surrounding area.
Sleights train station is on the Esk Valley line and offers direct routes to Whitby, Middlesbrough and Newcastle.
Guests have access to the full property. The keys to the property are accessed via a secure key safe and full details will be provided shortly before your arrival date.
Free on-street parking is available outside the property on a first come, first served basis.
