Good location, very close to the main part of town, those with mobility issues might have issues with the steep bank near the cottage though.
Lovely decor, lots of space, all essential amenities provided (plus a few modern extras!) and it was very clean which was great. Towels and bedding were of a very good standard. A welcome package with a couple of essential groceries and local delicacies was a really nice touch. The kids especially loved the twin room and the fact we were able to sign into Netflix etc on the TVs.
Overall we had a lovely stay, the property it taken care of and the owners certainly make an effort to keep it to a good standard. We would definitely recommend this property.
Minor gripe only with the front bedroom - the sash windows whilst very nice, and in keeping with the decor and age of the property, didn’t block out the noise of late night revellers.

Lovely house - everything catered for - perfect!
Can't fault it

very comfortable, well equipped

Lovely house in an ideal location, just 5-10 minutes from the Harbour. The house itself is ideal for families, has everything you need. Would highly recommend.

We had a fantastic week at Railman's Rest in Whitby. The house is a great property to stay and entertain, with great sized rooms and a lovely living/dining space! location is also very convenient for the town and tourist spots - all a short walk away!

Some thoughts from our week:
- it's a short walk into town, but it's steep. worth keeping in mind if you are not steady on your feet/use a walking aid.
- parking is available on the street and surrounding streets, though it was busy at the weekend when we arrived. we managed to park on the next street along and moved outside the house when we noticed a space later.
- there is a local pub, chip shop and newsagent all within a moment's walk. A very well stocked co-op is less than 10 minutes away - good for getting supplies.
- Whitby is generally pram friendly, though the street to the abbey is a no-go as it is steep! recommend a baby carrier for this one.

Raiman's Rest was well equipped, spotless throughout and a great location for exploring Whitby.

Thank you for a great stay. The house was lovely and we are now much fitter thanks to all the steps and hills in and around Whitby!

Great cottage/house.
Very easy to feel at home here, and plenty of room.
Bedrooms were great, bathroom spacious with powerful shower and separate bath.
When next in whitby is available will happily stay here again
There were 2 pieces missing from the jigsaw we tried to do, thats the extent of the things I didn't like, so pretty awesome really

We had a really lovely stay at Railman’s Rest.
The house is comfortable and has everything you need for a real home from home experience.
It’s close to town with a chip shop opposite and a friendly little pub next door. We also managed to park close to the accommodation.
Whitby itself is lovely and we were able to easily explore further afield.

The cottage was lovely and well presented. It was well equipped and very comfortable.
Some blinds on the Velux windows would be useful.

Lovely cottage. Clean well equipped and great location
Everything! Highly recommended.

Lovely clean, well equipped cottage, close to town, though quiet location. Managed to park close by and didn't use the car again until hometime. Lots to see and do in Whitby. We were lucky to have fab weather and enjoyed a pint outside at the local a few doors along. Would definitely go back to Railman's Rest a brilliant find.

Lovely property, well furnished and with comfortable beds and an excellent kitchen! Only a few minutes walk into the town centre, and with a pub and a fish and chip shop within a literal stone's throw. My children appreciated the presence of a games console in their room!

A lovely place to stay, really enjoyed our break. The house is great and has everything you need. Only slightly negative thing I could say is that if you're not good on your feet the walk into the town is a bit steep in places.

clean, very secure, aesthetically pleasing, well equipped, good size for our needs
could do with helix blinds at the windows, struggled to fit 6 adults comfortable in the lounge without using a dining chair

beautifully decorated!

Railmans Rest was certainly the best home in Whitby we have stayed in. Highly recommended. Location is great, short stroll down to the harbour. The house has everything you need and sofa, beds, extremely comfortable. We took our dog and in just 7 walking from the house you can be on the Cinder track,a lovely walk.

loved railmans rest, was an absolute gem in a perfect location, would love to come back again in the future!

Lovely home in a great location in Whitby. A perfect base for exploring the Yorkshire coastline and Moors

Great property in an excellent quiet location for walking access to the town centre. The owners have spared no expense in creating a "home from home" of notable character. All the small details to make guests feel welcome were much appreciated and, in summary, I would highly recommend Railmans Rest and the Stay team.

Lovely property, family friendly had everything we needed! Great stay.

The decor, the cleanliness, the location. It was so good we want to book again.
Nothing to dislike. The property was first class.

Railmans Rest is a lovely terraced house just above Whitby Harbour, and a 5 minute walk down to the centre. The house is clean, comfortable and equipped with everything you're likely to need. The shower is really hot and powerful and there's even a lovely bath if you're aching after lots of long walks. Really appreciated it being dog-friendly, and we made sure we left the house clean and 'odour-free'.
It was fine for us, but if there are 6 in your party you may find it a bit of a tight squeeze on the sofas in the lounge if you all want to sit down at the same time. A second toilet would would be really helpful for larger groups. There was no dedicated parking, but we always managed to find a space right outside in the street and there's plenty of places nearby.

Lovely property maintained to a high standard - close to Whitby centre. Thank you for your hospitality.
