My four friends and I had a wonderful stay in Whitby. The apartment is in a great location overlooking the sea and within walking distance to town. It was much bigger than we expected and was the perfect space for us and for a little weekend getaway. The apartment itself is beautiful with comfortable rooms and great views. A couple of things to think about for future guests is to bring your own beach towels if you want a day by the sea. There are normal bathroom towels available but these wouldn't be appropriate to bring onto the sand. Also there is only one parking permit available, so try your best to fit into one car.

Thank you for a wonderful stay!

it has the best panoramic sea views
lift wasn’t working during our stay so make sure you check this

Absolutely spot on ??

The view was fantastic. Nothing else.
Wall paper falling off due to mold. Hand rail falling off. Seagulls in loft so could not sleep upstairs for the cooing and walking about. The list goes on.

maggots in bedroom

Lovely place, great views and parking included. Inside the common spaces in the building is a bit worn and tired, but the accomodation itself is lovely and up to date.

Perfect spot! Child friendly accomodation with kids plates and high chair.

Only negative would be that the lift was out of action during our stay- quite taxing taking bags and a toddler up 4 double flights of stairs!

Otherwise perfect stay, would come back for sure!

I have just returned from a 3-night stay at Seaview @ 44. Our party consisted of five people from three separate households.

Check-in was easy and we found nearby parking without issue. We had two cars between us. The apartment is on the fourth (top) floor of a landmark building, Metropole Towers, in the West Cliff area of Whitby. There is a small lift which you can use to reach the apartment although, like much of the building, it feels dated and looks like it might break down at any given moment!

The apartment itself is very spacious and well-equipped. It is starting to look a little tired in places but it still has that ‘Wow’ factor owing to the amazing views from various rooms (but note there is currently some scaffolding up which obstructs views from some windows). My partner and I slept in the upstairs ‘master’ bedroom which does not have its own door and is separated from the rest of the apartment by stairs only. This wasn’t an issue for us but other people may not be so keen on this layout and it isn’t clear from the description or pictures that the master bedroom is not self-contained. The en-suite attached to this bedroom is quite large and features a free-standing bathtub which we made great use of!

The only downsides to our stay were only having one set of keys between the five of us (this was really inconvenient) and a fair amount of noise from pigeons nesting in the roof which could be heard from the master bedroom. However, overall we had a great stay. Whitby is beautiful!

Fantastic views, location, cleanliness, spacious, decor, facilities, peaceful, no disturbances, amenities, parking, en-suite, attention to detail.
first impressions of exterior entrance.

Great amazing space for spending time in floor plan was so spacious and every thing was there that we needed music cds games ...binoculars for the amazing sea views. The kitchen fab to spend time in. A really warm and cosy apartment.

Car park pass at back said had to put it on kerb side of window we displayed driver side got a fine

Location was excellent and the sea views from the top floor apartment were stunning. Apartment was very spacious, generally comfortable and well equipped.
Would have preferred more than one set of keys as we had three separate couples when we stayed in the apartment and the intercom was not working to buzz people in.
Infestation of flies on arrival and throughout our stay.
Being a little nitpicky in a few areas cleanliness could have been improved upon.

Loved the views and the spacious apartment

This is a very nice apartment and the view@44 was really impressive. Lots of space. The flat just needs a bit of updating, and there was scaffolding outside our windows which we were not informed of beforehand. Host&Stay manage the property on behalf of the owner and they were very responsive to any questions we had. We did not like being asked for extra ID checks off-airbnb which is not mentioned in the description, plus trying to sell additional cover. Otherwise, we had a nice stay.

View and size of property
Parking attendant giving both vehicles parking tickets at 3:15am, even though both cars clearly displaying scratch cards

Great apartment. Awesome location and views.

The views were sensational. The apartment was very spacious and comfortable.
The TV. Now TV. You couldn't just turn on the main channels.

The apartment itself was lovely - very spacious and at first glance luxurious. The views are what totally makes this property worth a visit. The management team need to be taught manners in customer relations and judging by the property maintenance issues, they need to be replaced! It was a memorable stay, but for the wrong reasons!
There was no mention of how far you had to trek from your car to the actual property itself on this listing which would be helpful (Even though you can park your car on the street outside thanks to the permits provided). This apartment is the furthest away from the lift on the top floor. The lift to get up to the top floor can only accommodate 1 person with luggage and is very claustrophobic. We had to make 5 trips up and down for our family of 4 and all the walking from the lift to the apartment- not good when you have walking issues. I thought this property was on the 1st floor, but the lift was a major pain. After lugging all our belongings and food to our apartment, I then had to trek back down to the car, with one of the car parking permits to allow me to park on the road for the next 48 hours. (I then had to swap it 2 days later for another one)
There were many flaws with the property itself - it looks nice at a first glance, but then you notice things that need addressing. When renting a property, you are informed you have to pay damages to anything and to leave the property as you find it. I went around and took photos, as there were many things we could have been blamed for - wallpaper peeling off walls in the living room and marks on the wallpaper, some safety window catches were broken, meaning the windows could open fully and were easy to fall out, a hole in the bathroom ceiling with kickboard hanging off the cupboard. Rotting black wood around the sink where water has ingressed, stains on carpets everywhere. All these sound minor, but they are things you don't want to be blamed for.
The listing could have stated where/how to access the apartment building, as myself, like many others before me, ended up in the bar downstairs trying to find a way in!
Once keys were obtained from the keypad in the entranceway, you then had to use a yale key to open the door to access the main apartment block.

Fantastic location. Lovely spacious accommodation at a perfect location. Good communication before and during our stay. Would recommend the property.
We could have just done with a little more information about where the entrance was.

The views from this property were amazing, the lounge and beds were super comfy and the kitchen had everything you need. Great communication and clear instructions from he host, made his a great place to stay.

Brilliant location!!! Very helpful staff ??

I would not recommend this Airbnb as the parking is impossible near the apartment and only 1 scratch card permit for potentially 7 people.
No instructions on where to park in the apartment and when I went to collect the permit I received a parking ticket !The host representative was also very unhelpful when I called regarding this issue .
The third bedroom had no wardrobe or hangers in it even though it slept 3 people.

Location and view are perfect. The photos don't do it justice. It's like home from home. Plenty of space in all rooms, all appliances that we needed.
Nothing negative to report. We will be staying again.
