Walk along Church Street and you’ll wind up at the East bank where you’ll find narrow medieval streets dotted with boutiques, pubs and fish restaurants. Climb the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary. You can also discover the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’.

Continue along the lively road until you reach the beautiful, blue flag West Cliff Beach which is lined with idyllic beach huts.
Step outside of Whitby and you’ll uncover a haven of woodland and moorland. Whitby forms part of the North York Moors National Park so it’s the perfect place for long walks.
The centre of Whitby is a short ten-minute walk from 1 Oswy Street.
Whitby train station is less than half a mile away so villages and towns along the North Yorkshire coast can easily be reached via rail. There’s also a taxi rank in close proximity to the train station.
There are plenty of bus routes throughout Whitby. Hop on the X4 and you can visit beautiful coastal villages like Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes. The X93 travels along the coast to Scarborough. The 95 route features plenty of quaint villages, such as Grosmont and Lealholm.
Guests have access to the full property. The keys to the property are accessed via a secure key safe and full details will be provided shortly before your arrival date.
Please note that the second flight of stairs inside the property are quite steep and narrow.
Location was good, walking distance to the centre, However, not suitable for people with mobility issues, stair are steep.
Mattress on king bed was hard
A good space to stay in, location good if a little uphill. Not really set up for self-catering though as kitchen lacking a range of pans etc- also no bread knife - but ample plates, mugs etc if all you want to do is sort breakfast before going out for the day.
Excellent over-bath shower & generous supply of towels for a 10 night stay
Cleaning equipment - hard floors could have done with being swept every few days but there was no broom/dustpan & brush
Excellent experience, communication was fantastic! House was in perfect location and really great size for all the family to enjoy.
The location was very good ihe house was clean good size bathroom and shower very good.
Furniture was uncomfortable oven was faulty the two double beds rock hard dining chairs did not feel safe to sit on if the above items are rectified it would be lovely
Cleanliness of the house. Location was ok.
The rear yard needs some attention. Clean the floor and paint the walls. It would be more inviting to sit out and share a bottle of wine. Get rid of the false flowers and tree in the yard, as they look cheap.
The location was good.
We didn't dislike anything.
Leaving the place.
Access to bathroom is lethal. Bed on floor, no legs to it. Plaster flakes all over beds and floor plus screws sticking out of walls. Extremely steep staircase to second floor with no handrail in places. Main stairs also steep. Loose electrical socket. I could not stay due to the dangerous bathroom access so completely ruined my weekend. Only 5 dining chairs in 6 bed house.
Comfy beds. A Warm and cozy house.
The dinning chairs were very unsteady.
A great location. Easy walk into Whitby centre. Lovely clean warm and spacious house
It was a little difficult to find a parking spot but once we got one we left the car there and we didn’t need the car again.
Great location. Comfortable accommodation
everything was perfect, easy to find, was a very nice holiday home
It was warm for part of our stay
Toilet seat was broken and had to be removed by us, tried to repair it but was reluctant as it had dried pooh on it so obviously not cleaned properly. Central heating stopped working so had a few backwards and forwards emails so had to follow manual to re set. Easy enough but not what I was expecting.
House up a steep incline so not for anyone with mobility issues.
Also didn't appreciate at least 6 automated emails telling me check out Time.
The house was lovely, clean and spacious. Comfortable beds, great facilities and an ideal location :)
A bit tired, stairs to top floor very steep.
As advertised, clean but basic accommodation.
it was close to the town centre with a good choice of close by shops, literally streets away.
The climb back up the hill
Location was really good , beds comfy, house good size and clean.
Not so good for people with poor mobility.. The stair arrangement at top of first flight of stairs and the bathroom was a little difficult ton negotiate if you were unsteady on your feet.
Washer was broken so couldn’t wash under 4’s soiled underwear and general clothes.
The court yard was filthy and not been swept for a long time, so had to sweep it before little one’s go go outside
The stairs and the steps between the landing and the bathroom would be difficult/unsafe for a less mobile person.
Convenient place for our family of 6 as we visited Whitby and other coastal towns.
The size was good and in good proximity to the town centre. It had everything we needed for the weekend.
There was a wobbly chair and only 5 chairs altogether, had there been 6 we would have struggled. The rear yard could have more done to it
Property was clean and position regarding Whitby was good.
Kitchen equipment was lacking, Drain in the yard was partly blocked. Instructions on using cooker, and washing machine would have been helpful. Washing machine did not work properly. No curtains in the front bedroom so light came in. Cupboards were clearly not checked as there were 3 broken glasses.and some of the crockery was dirty - bearing in mind £90 of the rent was for cleaning.
Just to say that we have never complained about a property before. Did you hire cowboys to do the maintenance?
Also we do not think this property is suitable for people with mobility issues or young children.
Handy for town. Managed to get parked close by which was good
proximity to centre of Whitby. well equipped, well presented and clean internally
would have liked a mirror and somewhere to hang clothes in the top bedroom.
stairs configuration by bathroom was a bit dodgy - needed care to avoid any accidents!
outdoor area was not fit to use.
There`s a step going into the bathroom which one of us fell over, there needs to be a sign on the door Mind the step.Apart from that it was a nice place in a good location.
Location was ok.
There were a few issues with the property,
Toilet roll holder and towel holder were loose on wall.
Shower head was leaking.
Toilet lid/seat had to be held up when taking a pee.
No curtains in 2nd bedroom to block light.
Cheap dining room chair broke when it was sat on.
Curtain pole brackets were loose in dining room.
Door to bathroom location is dangerous - should be at least 600mm from first step of staircase - my partner nearly fell down the whole stairs when she missed the step coming out of the bathroom.
More attention to upkeep of property, could do with a maintenance man to correct a few issues.
Great location and lovely property! Hosts were very easy to communicate with and very responsive.
really nice house close to everything you needed no complaints at all
comfy, great location, easy to find, easy to work heating etc, good instructions and helpful information provided
dust under the sofas and behind doors when we arrived . otherwise very clean snd wel maintained
There was space
The property went for style over comfort. The stairs were steep and unsafe when going to the toilet in the dark. it was not pet friendly. The light switches are a problem as you have to go up the stairs in the dark before reaching the switch.
There were minimum pans, no instructions how to use the cooker, no cafetiere, minimum number of chairs. The main room did not seat a family of 6 with a dog. What seating there was, was uncomfortable.
Good communication with owners prior to the visit.
House was clean and comfortable.
5/10 min walk from the centre
Clean and cosy place in a great location within walking distance of everything. There’s a nice friendly pub literally 30 seconds walking distance from the property.
The beds in the property were very comfortable, had a great nights sleep.
Not a negative on the property but parking can be hard work, best bet is to park up and leave it there for the duration .Parking in Whitby can be hard work in general anyway .
Bedding very clean, heating good
Sofas uncomfortable stair carpet dirty hall had dog hair's lack of crockery eg egg cups and pyrex dish for the microwave.
Great location, short walk into town and close to restaurants, bars, shops. Spacious bedrooms, well equipped kitchen. Only issue is parking which can be tricky at busy times. we were lucky and managed to get a space right outside the house.
Grate space,. Close to center,.
House is in an ideal location from which to visit Whitby.
very nice and clean house that is very close the the centre of Whitby. A very pleasant stay.
Lovely place - modern, clean and comfy beds - walking distance to town
location ok within easy walking distance of whitby centre for us.
accommodation well equipped with basics
parking was a lottery, however once space found within 1 minute of accommodation car left for duration of stay.
Had to keep bedroom windows closed at night or be kept awake by noisy seagulls
Excellent property in a very good location. Recommended.
We had lovely stay with family Thank you
The property is spotless clean, with comfortable beds. The location is in walking distance to and from the town. Where’s there are lots of interesting trips and places to enjoy..
The location was excellent - convenient for the town and beach. It was extremely clean and had just about everything we needed, including a complimentary box of chocolates on arrival! The beds were comfy and the kitchen well equipped. The owners were on hand to sort out any problems and it was easy to get in touch with the booking agent if we needed anything.
Unfortunately there were no cleaning products under the sink, although this is easily rectified.
Lovely stay, thank you.
Great base to visit Whitby and a nice clean property
Very good, seagulls on form.
