Runswick Bay is a beautiful spot on the North Yorkshire coast. Boasting a sweeping bay with a gorgeous sandy beach, The Times and Sunday Times Travel have recognised Runswick Bay within Britain's top 50 beaches. From sunbathing to rock pooling, fossil hunting to long walks along the lapping waves, the whole family will enjoy a day at the beach.
With narrow lanes and red roofed cottages, it’s easy to fall for Runswick Bay’s charm. The village has a local pub and cosy cafe which sells delicious cakes and pastries.
By staying in Runswick Bay, you’ll be ideally placed to explore the rest of the coast which includes Whitby, Staithes, Sandsend and Saltburn-by-the-Sea.
Getting Around
The closest train station to Salt & Seaweed is a 15-minute drive away in Whitby so villages and towns along the North Yorkshire coast can easily be reached via rail. There’s also a taxi rank in close proximity to the train station.
You can travel via bus easily from Runswick Bay. Hop on the X4 and you can visit beautiful coastal villages like Sandsend, Staithes, Saltburn and Whitby.

There is private on site parking for 2 / 3 vehicles.
Please note we accept one well behaved dog per stay and we request they do not go in the bedrooms, the property is strictly no smoking throughout and we are not available for stag or hen parties.

We spent a long weekend for my sons 22nd birthday. The accommodation and site were amazing, the lodge had everything you could need. The communication was brilliant. Will definitely be back!

Thankyou so much for a perfect family stay. The place was immaculate. It had everything u need and more. Location was beautiful. The host was excellent and very easy to reach. Would love to come back and stay here again. Kids enjoyed there time here ?

Quiet area. Great for dogs. Lodge had everything we needed including toiletries. Super clean & comfortable, even for a grown family of 5 & a dog!

Exceptionally clean and well
furnished. Bedding and towels lovely. Had everything we needed.
Had a problem with the key safe but staff answered query promptly. Also a blind broke when trying to pull up. Reported straightaway.

Lovely place, clean and everything you needed. Beach only a 5 min walk away and a few local pubs and restaurants only a few minutes away. Absolutely lovely place would definitely recommend.

We had a great long weekend staying at ‘Salt and Seaweed’. It was quiet, spacious, clean and had all the mod cons. Really great location so we were able to get to all the local beaches in no time at all. We will definitely be booking again and would highly recommend to others.

A good base if you are wanting to visit Whitby, Staithes and Saltburn- no more than a 20 minute travel time.
The lodge is located on a small and secure gated holiday park with super facilities- just be mindful that the local tv mast is damaged so only catch up and app style tv watching available.

Lovely peaceful spot close to the beautiful Runswick Bay. The lodge has all the cooking equipment you’d need and the toiletries were a nice touch.
The lodge is warm and cosy at night time and plenty spacious for a large family. We couldn’t fault it and only wish we could have stayed longer!

Salt and Seaweed in on a small development of luxury lodges and is a very quiet and tranquil place to stay. Runswick Bay is small itself but it is perfectly placed for exploring that part of the Yorkshire coastline. If visiting soon then please be aware that the local television transmittor is currently out of action. The TV in the lodge does have access to things like iplayer, Netflix etc, so not a big deal.

A really great lodge on a lovely quiet park, perfect for exploring the North Yorkshire coast, a couple of places to eat nearby, a few minutes walk to the beach (although a very steep hill on the way back) with a coastal bus service virtually on the doorstep, I'd highly recommend.

The place is immaculate, had everything we needed and more. Would definitely recommend. 2 pubs, restaurant and a little cafe on your doorstep plus more by the beach which is a steep hill walk. A short bus ride into Whitby if you didnt want to drive in.

We had a wonderful 3 night stay in this beautiful, extremely well equipped lodge. As an extended family group with an 11 month baby and a dog it suited us very well and everyone was happy.
Runswick bay has a beautiful beach and is quiet and unspoilt which suited us! Yet it was a short drive to hot spots such as Whitby, Sandsend and Robin Hoods Bay.
We would love to return in the not too distant future.

Great lodge in a perfect location. The lodge had plenty of space, perfect for families, it was extremely clean & had everything you could possibly need for your stay away. The Pines is a 5 minute walk to the beach & has several local pubs on your doorstep. We eat at the Runswick Bay Hotel which is just down the road from the caravan park, the food & service was fantastic & I would definitely recommend.

Lovely, clean, spacious, modern lodge, in a lovely location. Everything you need is accommodated for in the lodge.
Runswick bay beach is 10 minute walk, lovely beach with a cafe and pub on the way down.
Would recommend staying here.

A lovely holiday chalet in a small development. Not too far from the beach despite the climb on the steep road or path. Close to other attractions like Staithes and Whitby for visits.

Gorgeous immaculate property on small lodge development, quiet & peaceful with lovely views.
Brilliant for accessing the Yorkshire coastline - Runswick Bay, Sandsend, Whitby all within a few miles, and a lovely haven to come home to at the end of the day.
It has absolutely everything you could need. We LOVED it!!

Beautifully presented lodge with everything you need for a great holiday. Fantastic location, you can walk to Runswick Bay, short drive to Whitby and other beaches. Good pub food locally, we tried the Ellerby Inn, great food and massive portions. Wish we could have had a longer break!

Lovely cabin in a great location for the coast. I scored low for check in and communication because we weren’t given the gate code to get into the compound and we arrived late at night not expecting to need anything else. I phoned for the info and although the operators were very friendly unfortunately no code arrived until the next day. However we managed to sort ourselves out that night and it was only since we arrived so late that it didn’t pan out.
I’d recommend staying here.
