Featuring five bedrooms across two floors, a beautiful open plan kitchen and dining area, outdoor terrace and lush, well-kept gardens, this is the perfect place for family gatherings or group getaways. Solimar House is a unique property with exceptional views and a real sense of ‘home’.
Trip Details
The Space
Ultra sleek and luxurious in style, you’ll find beautiful interiors throughout Solimar House. Large windows, crisp white walls and light wood flooring help to create a bright and tranquil space.
The property benefits from a large open plan kitchen and dining area where you can prepare and enjoy meals. With sea views and patio doors which open out into the garden, this is the perfect place to socialise and enjoy quality time with your friends and family. Head to the living room and you’ll find a flat screen TV, log burner and ample seating making it the ideal place to enjoy a cosy night in.
Sleeping up to 11 guests, Solimar House has five spacious bedrooms. Gorgeously styled, each room has a neutral colour scheme and premium furnishings. The master bedroom has a comfy super king bed and a deep soaking bathtub with sea views. The second and third bedrooms also feature super king beds as well as en suite bathrooms. The fourth room sleeps 3 guests with a small double and single and the fifth bedroom has two singles.
As expected, the family bathroom is sleek, modern and clean. The space is complete with a walk in shower, separate bathtub, WC and basin.
Neighborhood
Set on the West side of Whitby, Solimar House is located on the promenade so you can expect exceptional views and a fabulous central location. Just a short 10-minute walk along the promenade will bring you to the town centre.
Head to Pier Road and you’ll find cosy pubs, fun arcades and plenty of fish restaurants. Continue along the lively road until you reach the beautiful, blue flag West Cliff Beach which is lined with idyllic beach huts. At the other end of Pier Road, you’ll notice the swing bridge which sits over the River Esk.
Over the bridge, you’ll find yourself on the East bank which is full of narrow medieval streets dotted with boutiques, pubs and fish restaurants. Climb the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary. You can also discover the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’.
Step outside of Whitby and you’ll uncover a haven of woodland and moorland. Whitby forms part of the North York Moors National Park so it’s the perfect place for long walks.
Getting Around
The centre of Whitby is a short ten-minute walk from Solimar House.
Whitby train station is less than half a mile away so villages and towns along the North Yorkshire coast can easily be reached via rail. There’s also a taxi rank in close proximity to the train station.
There are plenty of bus routes throughout Whitby. Hop on the X4 and you can visit beautiful coastal villages like Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes. The X93 travels along the coast to Scarborough. The 95 route features plenty of quaint villages, such as Grosmont and Lealholm.

Facilities were amazing had everything you could think of.
We ran out of toilet roll and kitchen roll and there was no spares available so had to go buy some a spares cupboard would have been great.

Location was brilliant, just a short walk to town. Stylish, well equipped, lovely house which was great for our family get together. Peaceful and a fabulous view. Communication with hosts was brilliant, useful guidance on the house, its amenities and local area. Plenty of parking out front and a lovely back garden out back.
Nothing to dislike about this place. Our family would be happy to visit again

Great location, fantastic view from the front of the house. Spacious, well equipped accommodation with thoughtful homely extras. Enclosed pet and child friendly garden.
Welcome book contained contradictory information for refuse collection. A couple of maintenance points to address, the lock on one en-suite bathroom jammed, trapping occupant and bath plug in family bathroom did not seal so the water ran out. Heating set high but manageable by turning off multiple radiators.

What an amazing house, in a fantastic location, with everything you need for a fabulous weekend escape to Whitby.
Beautifully furnished, loads of added amenities, plenty of space, seating and parking for even the biggest of groups, with incredibly comfy beds.
Would 100% recommend and hope to stay again soon.

We have just returned home from 5 days here. The house was amazing! Everything you could need and so spacious and clean. My parents visited and stayed a couple of nights too. Theres so much to do here and the house is the perfect location right on the beautiful sandy beach! The beautiful little town is walking distance as is everything you could need. We will definitely be booking again, the only downfall for us was the gloomy weather in August!!! But apart from that- perfect.

A great place to stay in Whitby, super clean and tidy. The room with the bath in is exceptional and has the most incredible view of the sea. Great location so close to Whitby centre.

Fab location, excellent parking. The house is beautiful and perfect for a large family or group. There are a few bits of wear and tear around the house but 98% is bang on. Kitchen well supplied, all bedding and linen provided abs facilities excellent.
Just a few bits of wear and tear around the house (our toilet seat was only half fixed and a lamp was broken) but we didn’t let it detract from the rest of the house and facilities which were excellent.

Gorgeous house in a great location and loved that it was dog friendly. The house also had camp chairs, body boards etc for the beach which we took advantage of with the good weather. Really enjoyed and will return!

Great house ! Had everything you may need , with a well equipped kitchen , games, tv and even binoculars for bird watching and dolphin spotting. We were lucky enough to see dolphins playing right in front of the house.

We stayed at this property for a week 22nd April. 4 Adults and two dogs.
It was easy to check in/locate the keys and on first glance the location was absolutely fabulous!
Well the house did not disappoint! Huge rooms, clean, nice and modern. Gorgeous bay windows. Smart TV so you can log into your Netflix/Amazon Prime. Everything we could have asked for and more.
The garden was very secure and massive! We, and the dog's, spent a lot of time out there. Also a fab warm water outdoor shower to wash the dogs off after the beach. Absolutely perfect!
Absolutely GORGEOUS views of the sea from all bedrooms, lounge and kitchen, perfect!
Location, gorgeous beach right across the road! Stunning sands and sea. 8 minute walk into Whitby centre. Lots to see and do. The brewery bar at the top of the 199 steps was really nice. 90% of places are dog friendly and lots of water bowls about.
We enjoyed every moment and didn't want to leave! We will definitely be returning, if you’ll have us....?? Thanks so much for having us.
