Apartment 3 at Glencoe

Location was excellent. Apartment 2 was really good - facilities excellent, cleanliness was great and the apartment was really close to everything. Added bonus - visit Cranberry Swamp for breakfast, amazing food not far away from apartments. The apartment exceeded our needs and expectations.

The location was spot on. The apartment was very clean. The kitchen was fully equipped. The living room dining room was a great size.The host answered most of your queries. Lots information about the area. Straight forward instructions.
The word ‘luxury’ apartment does not apply to this apartment. It was dated. The layout was bizarre. Walking through a bedroom to get to kitchen is not ideal. The bathroom was an add on at the back. The blinds in the bathroom didn’t work. The fridge was not in the kitchen, but in the corridor which led out to the back of the property. We had to walk through this corridor with a glass door, you could easily be seen as you pass to go to the bathroom. The fittings are dated throughout. Odd wardrobes built into the wall. The apartment is not Luxury and should not by advertised as so such. Noisy upstairs neighbours

One sofa and the chair could have been more comfortable. There was no where to put toiletries in the bathroom although plenty of wall space there was not one shelf. Was asked to leave the property clean and tidy no problem with the tidy but as for cleaning surely for a charge of £50 that is the cleaners job

clean and quiet, lots of space in living / kitchen area.
Room was heated in the evening , it was automatic.
the night light in the internal corridor to bathroom was very useful.
decor was easy to live with, minimalistic.
location was good, easy to dine out and walk everywhere.
bedside lights not good for reading as the bedside table was too low and light itself was not flexible. this was in double bedroom. where there was only a wardrobe so clothes had to be hung up, no drawer space.
Parking was difficult to find as street was always full. Once you had a place, it was best to stay put!

The location of the property was a comfortable walk out of the town centre. There were pubs, cafes nearby. The property was clean and well stocked. The beds were comfortable and the location was quiet.

The property was well prepared, we were pleased at how little we needed to bring with us. It was very comfortable and excellently situated on the edge of town and within reach of the beach.

Issue with with parking - there was only a parking scratch card for 2 days, instead of 3. highlighted by a traffic warden. we contacted property team by phone text and email. on 2 nd day, eventually got reply but other scratch card not delivered before 10 am as promised, rang again and eventually one dropped off just before 11. luckily we spoke to traffic warden and explained.

Location was good to get to all the amenities, the apartment was clean and bright and had everything you would need in the kitchen area to cook meals. We didn’t have any problems with parking and the road the apartment was on is very quiet.
The bathroom was very small but wouldn’t put us off staying there again.

the entrance hall had dead spiders in the ledge. the decor tired it did not smell clean.
inside the apartment there were black hairs on the bathroom floor and in the bath. a used bobble from a previous tenant was on the floor by the toilet.
the living room was ok, there were finger prints on the windows.
the only clean thing was the bedding and towels. definitely would not recommend for the price!

Only one 2 seater sofa in room and could do with a second. as one is not really sufficient. The bathroom was clean and ok but only had a small towel rail. There was no radiator in there and was very cold whenever you went in there. My wife is employed as a 'checker' at 'The Bay Filey' and used to checking properties thoroughly and says there were crumbs in the fridge and dust on the skirtings. There are also a No of levels throughout the property which are trip hazards, the worst of these is the outer door threshold which is quite high and dangerous when handling luggage and a constant pain entering and leaving. There are also 2 internal doors a few feet apart to access apartment. Both of these have automatic door closers fitted which makes entering and leaving the apartment awkward when moving in and out and much worse when going in and out with a dog or luggage

Overall, this was a great place. We needed somewhere as a base for us to go out and explore Whitby. Its location is perfect - close to the beach and shops. The apartment's living room and kitchen were spacious and comfortable. The bedroom was fine, the bathroom was small. But this wasn't a problem. I would definitely come back.

The location was excellent, the convenience of having a key code made entry on arrival very smooth. Parking was convenient.
The bathroom was freezing, the heated towel rail was not working. The shower door kept falling off it's track and the shower was not very powerful.

Bed 2 absolutely bitterly cold even with heating on, smelled like vomit. Absolutely no storage in bathroom, not even a small shelf to put anything on. Luckily took earplugs otherwise we wouldn't have slept, hearing the party next door through paper thin walls.

My stay at this property was fantastic. The room was really good value for money and the customer service was superb. The location of the room is also a big bonus, as its only a few minutes walk from the shops and the beach. The apartment is really comfortable and very spacious. I highly recommend this accommodation.
The only down side was the the bathroom was a little untidy. There was toothpaste marks left around the sink and there was some dirt in the sink.

Cosy little apartment suitable for couples near the centre of Whitby. The apartment is warm and well cleaned. Facilities are generally good, with storage and a kitchen. There is a balcony with a couple of chairs. The apartment is in a great location. Parking available.

The kitchen could have a few more cooking utensils. It appears to be impossible to use your own Netflix account on the TV because it uses someone else's login (I watched Netflix through this other account). Parking can be an issue because the traffic wardens are terrible (make sure you clearly display the provided permit for all days you are parked in the zone).

Apart from the carpet which was a little dirty I was very pleased with the cleaning standards, it was spotless.
Comfortable bed and decent shower and nice and warm in winter. Location is excellent for walking into Whitby or onto the beach and they provide you with a parking permit.
I prefer a comfy settee one you can put your feet up and sink into, this one is a bit small and quite firm but ok.

The plumbing left a lot to be desired which should have been picked up on before we arrived.

Clean comfortable location to beach and town very good. Parking not clear how it worked and had to park a long way from the apartment and managed to get a fine as I thought we had 3 hours grace to sort out scratchcard. We got a ticket after 1.5 hours at 10.30.
Top floor with dog was not ideal and split level to toilet not ideal.

The decor of the apartment, and the good location.
The door between the bedroom and the lounge had clear glass windows in so anyone in the bedroom could be seen from the lounge, and also outside. Therefore the lounge curtains could not be drawn back until both of us were up and fully dressed. Frosted glass or a curtain would be beneficial.
There were no blinds at the lounge window so the room got really hot during the day time when the sun was shining.

I did not like the emails to verify my passport photo and number with superhog. You should not be required to do this. I worried that this would cancel my booking by not doing this. Scams and Identity theft are so common these days!
The apartment was on the top floor so there were a lot of stairs although this can't be helped.
I am a smoker and there were no ashtrays in the vicinity of the property so I found myself throwing cigarette ends onto the street, not ideal.

Everything else! Spacious, good living room, good bedrooms, good kitchen and dining room - ideal for self-catered accommodation. All kitchen facilities and crockery were fantastic - cannot be faulted.
Whole stay at Glencoe was superb.
Only drawbacks were the small bathroom and the tiny balcony. But neither of these are faults of the apartment or stay, simply comments.

We stayed in the split level apartment and loved everything about it, it is spotlessly clean bright and airy. The furnishings are lovely and modern and it is a very comfortable apartment (and bed) and everything you could require to be home from home is there for you. The apartment is in a great location and within walking distance of most of Whitby's attractions. Being dog friendly is a great bonus and the free parking pass in the W Zone is a nice perk to the booking. It was also nice to get messages from the hosts giving details of checking in and checking out and also during the stay checking if everything was ok with the room etc and if we required anything. All in all we were very happy with our choice our apartment and it was a great place to stay.
There is absolutely nothing to dislike about this apartment.

Parking very difficult but as we had ground floor flat it was a little annoying to see vehicles parked mere feet from our back door, on the property, where we would have liked to have to park. The Whitby pass for free parking was a good thing but very difficult to find a space nearby.

Glencoe appartment 3. Clean and specious dog friendly apartment with everything you need including balcony with views to the side over countryside. the only thing missing was an airier to dry clothes or washing.

We loved the apartment it was beautifully clean and tidy and had almost everything we needed and the tea coffee and milk were most welcome a lovely touch. We enjoyed our stay very much thank you.
There was no freezer or ice box in the fridge. Would have been good to have a coffee or occasional table in the living room.

Location was excellent, 2 minute walk from the centre/harbour area, the apartment was modern, clean and tidy with everything provided for a comfy stay. Parking permit included in price, no car park but on-street parking everywhere around the accommodation.
Nothing springs to mind, the bathroom could have been bigger but the layout of the apartment doesn’t allow for it, I would have liked a sea view but again the buildings facing the opposite way, but in reality it is a nicely furnished self catering apartment handily placed for easy access to the harbour, shops and pubs etc.

Fabulous location just I didn’t realise there were so many stairs to apartment four and my husband has dodgy knees!

The apartment is in a good location, we walked to most places in Whitby.
We ate at (all lovely):
* Emma's - burgers/ American Diner
* The Windmill (about a 10 min taxi journey)
* The Edge
**We were very lucky to get to dine in as the only place we booked was The Windmill - book places to eat when you book accommodation**
We managed to get a good parking space and didn't want to move the car so got the bus to Robins Hood Bay which was about 20 mins each way.
The people in the flat above were quite loud.
Parking is a bit of a nightmare, though we were very grateful for the parking pass.

Absolutely nothing to complain about at Glencoe. We unexpectedly had to bring our dogs (kennels shut due to Covid) and apartment 1 is perfect. Access out the back so no disturbing the rest of the building using the front entrance with toilet trips.
Everything you could need, wonderfully clean, tidy & cosy. Superb heating, which was important for our new years stay. Great location too. Even though the day we arrived whitby was put into tier 3 we had the best relaxing break. Fab takeaways that delivered after cold days out walking. Plus, free parking right outside the property.
The only thing missing was a mop for the muddy paw prints.

Very warm, comfortable and spacious apartment close to centre of Whitby. Easy check in. Well kitted out with full kitchen and large modern bathroom. Lots of wardrobe space.

Nothing really - only small negative could have done with a freezer/fridge freezer as opposed to just a fridge mainly for ice in drinks. Or if we wanted to stay longer than a couple of days would be handy.

The apartment was exceptionally clean, modern, and well decorated. The facilities were great, and the bed mattress very comfortable, we slept very well. It is a 5 minute stroll one way to the whalebones, and the shops start 5 minutes the other way. Although the location was central, it was quiet and peaceful at night time. The Granby pub, at the bottom of the road , to the right is minutes away, and the food and friendliness of the staff is exceptional. We will definitely recommend and rebook

No cold water coming out kitchen tap, so had to fill kettle in the bathroom. Apartment very dusty on arrival so with covid 19 hanging over us had to give it a clean over.stairs a killer as was on top floor attic but we managed. Had sky box but not usuable.very noisy when toilet was flushed. Even tho you get a parking permit it is impossible to get parked anywhere near the apartments. So we had to pay for parking all weekend.but fab location, central to everything. would come again but would book one of the apartments with a balcony and a lower floor.

The property felt like a home from home and was situated in an ideal location. It had everything you would need and more. The bed was very comfortable and had a great nights sleep.
Parking was confusing and difficult to find a space, opted for the car park around the corner at £8.50 for 24 hours.

Fantastic location, lovely views, spacious.
Due to COVID-19 situation, we stayed in property a bit more then we would normally. The tv and wifi were not working as good as we would like it to.
The light switches, window handles etc were not cleaned for a long time! We had to dettol wipe all the bits and bobs just to be sure that it is clean.
This is on top of expectations but it has to be done right now. Otherwise the flat was clean.

Brilliant location , only minutes from the whale bone on the west cliff and what a spectacular view of Whitby abbey and the 199 steps too ! Easy street permit car parking on arrival, and we were able to stroll around Whitby at ease.
All instructions were clear and easy to follow from arrival to departure . Welcome chocolates were a real treat too. Look forward to staying here again soon .
Minor problem with the cold water tap (kitchen sink )not flowing ,although our bathroom nearby and so within easy reach and we managed fine.

Parked right outside the property. Keys in a locked box by the front door. The apartment was clean and spacious with the added bonus of a small south facing balcony. The owner responded immediately when we couldn't find the key to the balcony door.

The apartment was well maintained, a good size and in a great location. It was ideal for a family break. Really enjoyed everything about this apartment and would definitely stay here again without any concerns. Great place.
The duvet provided was very thick. During a warm summer a thinner duvet would be better. Could also do with slightly thicker (darker) curtains. Other than that, nothing of note.

Great space in a great location.. parking is a nightmare but was pre warned.. had to park in paying car park first night then VERY lucky to get a spot near to apartment... plenty of equipment and very quiet location apart from the sea gulls but didn’t find that a problem, nice to have tv in the bedroom so can watch early morning news
Bathroom/ shower room very small .. my other half is a body builder and really struggled to fit in bathroom let alone the shower. A few health and safety issues ie:- The only smoke detector Which is in the bedroom was hanging down with no battery.. and very sharp edge in bathroom.. .. I am only slim ( size 8 ) and found very sharp edge on the corner of the bathroom going into shower area ... glass shelf above sink makes cleaning teeth awkward to rinse as no disposable plastic cups so bending down meant you caught yourself on the shelf ( there were glasses in kitchen but glasses in a bathroom not good practice . Also a few cleaning issues in kitchen and bedroom........ I know I’m picky .. 31 years as senior housekeeper in a care home but thick dust on top of Wardrobe.. a lot of dirt round edges of kitchen sink.. I did take photos of these discrepancies.. also knob missing from top oven kitchen... like I say I may be picky .. but put these few things right and would be a great accommodation in a great location x

Warm & comfortable apartment in a perfect location for getting to harbour, shops and beach. Loved the extra touch of the Christmas tree, too. Coffee shops & bakeries almost on the doorstep and great fish restaurants in easy walking distance. Would definitely stay here again!

clean comfortable spacious property in an excellent location - shops and pubs a 2 minute walk, and the quayside a couple of minute further. Whitby is a brilliant place to stay - but is hilly if you’re not very mobile.
it was a bit of a pain getting all our stuff up the narrow stairs as the property is on the 3rd floor - but once up all is good. the shower is small - it was fine for us, but if you’re on the large side you would struggle. I’d suggest the property is not for older or large people. the street parking - for which a permit is supplied, is on a ‘first come first served’ basis, so you may not be able to park close to the property, although people are coming and going all the time.

He was rude and tried to belittle me. He thinks all Australians do not know how to operate a British washing machine. Especially Australian women cannot operate the machine. That's why he wanted to speak only to my husband. I think I frightened him because I stood up for myself. I said you can speak to my husband that is ok but he is Australian too.
This host treated us as if we were a nuisance. He does not deserve nice guests. Please safe yourselves some grief and money and don't throw any business his way. He is going out of business. It won't be long.
I write this not out of anger. We have left longtime ago already. Just like to help the next traveller. We love Whitby. We will be back again and again we hope. Hopefully we pick a better host. That should not be so hard in this case. We give Glencoe Apartmens a great big fat NO!!!!

A beautifully presented apartment, much bigger than I expected. Excellent location, close to the town centre amenities. The hosts were extremely helpful, without being overbearing. They even provided sunshine :-)
