The cottage is beautiful. Burnsall is perfect. The cottage has everything you need.
For the price you pay Airbnb for cleaning id expect it to be perfect but there were quite a lot of cobwebs and it was dusty in some areas of the house. Also, the toilet was broken when we arrived which wasnt ideal but luckily there were other toilets to use!
Id definitely recommend this cottage.

The kitchen tap was faulty and the aga was below temperature for easy cooking. Otherwise everything was lovely.

The location of this large, characterful house is absolutely perfect! Beautiful village and some great walks around.
For a large house, it would benefit from a dishwasher! Pre-warning that it’s hand wash only.
The AGA is fine, as long as you know how to use one! Plan ahead and with plenty of time.
The big let down for us was the cleanliness. People have mentioned it before in reviews. Thankfully the bed linen and towels were clean, but the rest of the house was not: dead flies on the en-suite windowsill, cobwebs everywhere, mould around the kitchen sink. Some really easy wins, so I hope the rental company do something about it!
With a clean, it would be as perfect as it’s pictures in the listing.

This house does need seem urgent maintenance, but it is a beautiful property in a lovely location. The kitchen smelt strongly of oil despite ventilation (we were reassured the aga had had recent maintenance) and the kitchen hot tap was leaky and faulty. Several doors did not shut properly and all the windows in the attic bedroom had no curtains. There was also no curtain in one of the front bedrooms - really not ideal when staying in summer! Would be a great stay if these issues were seen too.

Fabulous character house with fantastic comfy spacious beds. Wonderful views and variety of rooms to spend time in. Huge kitchen with aga, giving constant warmth! Had a lovely restful time, but with opportunity for walks, eating out and visiting local villages near by.

The accommodation is perfectly situated in the lovely village of Burnsall. The property is big and had all amenities needed. The Aga is hard to cook on though! lovely enclosed garden. The bedrooms are huge and very comfortable. Would definately love to stay again.

Fantastic house for our large group in an excellent location, super comfy beds, comfortable, warm, very well equipped and lovely furnishings.
Tired grubby paintwork, needs a deep clean i.e,hand prints all over glass/lots of cobwebs, broken chair from the kitchen dumped in the conservatory and broken door handle (mentioned in a previous review) still not fixed!

House was a great location.
Needs a major bit of TLC, lots of things such as broken chair, wallpaper hanging off the walls, the dust from the chimney coming through the fireplaces in the night time with the wind. Would stay again if these things all where sorted as the location is brilliant and plenty of room.

This house is set in the most beautiful place, nestled in a small village win the Yorkshire Dales with a large river running through the village, and lots of amazing walks nearby etc. The view of hills from the kitchen window was incredible - especially as we come from the flat land of Norfolk.
There are walks from the doorstep along the river, across footbridges and up to Hebden which has an amazing cafe.
Also recommend getting food at the Craven Arms which is a 5 mon drive. The steak and ale pie was amazing and every single dessert was outstanding- a brilliant pastry chef must work there! We ate in the bar area and there are fires dotted throughout the pub so it is warm and welcoming yet completely understated in a very refreshing way to what we are used to.
The house is very warm and clean. It was comfortable in the winter. It has a gorgeous patio garden with a bbq and chairs and a wonderful sun room. It was too cold in winter to use this though. We are a family of 5 but struggled to fit around the TV as there were not enough sofa spaces. The TV also wasn’t smart, but that meant we spent time playing games and being with each other more, so more of a holiday!
The dog really loved sleeping by the arga.
My advice is be prepared for arga cooking- we had a Sainsbury’s delivery to the door and made lots of stews which were ready when we came back from a long walk.
Really amazing place to get away from it all thank you

The location was good near to a pub for dinner large enough to accommodate the family of 6. A very warm house. Bedding and towels where excellent.
Very worn property and very tired. Blinds in ensuite broken door handle to room loose could easily get trapped in room. Only one TV in the whole of house. No instructions for the arga to help work the meal times etc. Ensuite and bathrooms had grubby screens and lots of dirty mastic around bath. Not enough toilet rolls to accommodate a family of 6. Grubby rugs and cobwebs. Very dark internally. Needs a good clean and a good decoration.

The Old Post Office is a lovely property that easily sleeps 8. The sitting areas are comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. There is only an Aga in the kitchen so bear this in mind if you are wanting to cook a meal during your stay. The three main bedrooms are large with king size beds that are comfortable. The forth bedroom is in the attic and is open with the hallway on the second floor. The garden is fully enclosed and is a safe place for dogs and children. The house is situated across from The Red Lion pub and hotel, which offers a warm welcome to visitors and is dog friendly. We had an evening meal there and the food was good as were the portion sizes. There was a good wine and beer selection too. There is a lovely 7 mile circular walk from Burnsall to Grassington along the River Wharfe, which I would highly recommend.

We had a great weekend in this gorgeous house! So much space, so many rooms, we didn’t even get chance to use them all! Comfy beds, cosy fires, huge kitchen. We’d love to stay again. Gorgeous location.

lovely big house that was comfortable, warm and in a great location. Lovely views from the house.
we felt the house could maybe do with some repair. A few door knobs on the kitchen units and on the bedroom doors were loose. The fridge stopped working half way through our holiday, so we had to use outside as our fridge. But other than that, a great house.

Lovely location and plenty big enough for 6 adults. Really cosy and a good set up with big comfortable beds.
Overall the cottage was wonderful and we'd return. If we were being picky, the kitchen could probably do with an update.

We loved our stay at The Old Post Office. Ideal for our family get-together. The beds are really comfortable, lots of spaces to hang out in the house, the area is magic- roll out of the front door and you are by the river or can go on glorious riverside walks from the front door. The Aga was lovely and warm and the property was well equipped, we had everything we needed. For us the photos didn't do it justice, The Old Post Office was comfortable, characterful and very spacious.

This house is absolutely beautiful, and the village is lovely as well. A picturesque setting, with plenty of room for families or friends to get together. We did have an issue on our second day that the Aga stopped working, which was frustrating. But after a few phone calls the property company confirmed we could get food from the pub and they would reimburse us, which was a satisfactory outcome. And shout out to the Red Lion across the road as they were lovely, and managed to feed a fairly large group of us even though they were very busy on a Saturday night. Overall, it's a beautiful house in a beautiful location, and I would definitely recommend.

Lovely area with lots to do. Property is quirky, and could do with a little tlc, although the beds and sofas were very comfortable. We weren’t able to book meals out in the village, however there are plenty of lovely places to eat within a 5 mile radius.

Great location & comfy big beds with good linen & towels. Lovely snug & comfortable sofas & chairs
Poor electrics (snug light couldn’t be turned off) & various wires not properly terminated. Tired state of repair. Garden overgrown & untidy. Lack of bedside tables. Lack of dishwasher - poor sink location making washing up problematic.

Pros:
Couldn't ask for a better location. Comfortable beds. Very good communication from managers. Was all that it said it was. Good facilities available - pots and pans, etc. (not always the case with holiday rentals).
Cons:
Could have been cleaner. A few things which have clearly not been fixed for a while, light switches, locks etc. But this is minor.
Overall, I would happily book again.

The location and surrounding scenery were great, however the property itself did not live up to expectations. On arrival the kitchen was in need of a good clean and other downstairs areas needed a good dust and hoover. There were various exposed wires and cables both inside and out which were unsightly. Some windows and doors were difficult to open and then impossible to close and the garden needed a tidy up. Overall, the property was in need of a lot of TLC.
The bedrooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. The listing states '4 Bathrooms', however there are 2 bathrooms with showers over baths and 2 further cloakrooms.
There is only an Aga to cook on so be prepared.
On the plus side, the issues that we raised with the managing agent were dealt with and their communication was good and prompt.

A great house in a beautiful location. The river nearby is fantastic for swimming and walks and the area is amazing for exploring. The bedrooms were lovely in the house but kitchen was disappointing. We stayed in summer and the aga was on full blast heating the whole house. After lots of comms with the rental company we managed to turn the heat down slightly but was still roasting making the kitchen an unusable area. Think an advisory needs to be given for summer bookings that the property will be extremely and uncomfortably hot. Also as previous reviews have mentioned there is no dishwasher. Finally we also had some worries as the back doors and kitchen window don’t close properly and can’t be secured. This may have been as a result of the heat but it certainly caused us some worry whilst there. Again contacted the rental company about this one.

Situated in a beautiful area, the property is spacious, well equipped and comfortable. Lovely sun room at the back of the house was our go-to place to be.
Unfortunately our time there was affected by water supply issues on the upper floors which were not resolved at the time, compounded with other maintenance shortcomings, and poor / incorrect communication from the management company. Addressing these areas will make this property a real winner.

Great house for a family stay. Big bedrooms and plenty of everything. Conservatory is a great space for eating and chatting - faces south so caught the few rays of sunshine we saw! Wonderful views from the back of the house. Check in was easy and good communication from the Hosts. Thank you - wonderful place to catch up with family after so long.

The house was perfect . Location, cleanliness, facilities. Problem with TV that was not able to be sorted but all of the staff that we spoke to were really helpful.
The TV did not work. We were planning on Eurovision 'party' that we were not able to have as the TV did not work. We had a whole night planned & this was then not able to take place.

All the quirky decor. It was a mixture of traditional but modern and very comfortable. Fabulous location.
The booking agents (Host and Stay) were lovely in trying to iron our any difficulties.
TV didn’t work but we weren’t too bothered.
Aga was challenging if you had never used one before and as it was a hot weekend it was boiling in the kitchen. It was also boiling in the conservative and we daren’t open the conservatory doors as we could see killer midges outside. ?
We still weren’t too bothered. We just sat in the living room and opened to door until it had cooled down.

The old post office was excellent. The location in the centre of the village is lovely, the setting is very convenient. The rear courtyard was a nice and comfortable place to relax. The rooms were very spacious and maintained numerous period features. the rear conservatory was spacious, light and airy. The kitchen was gorgeous! The village is super quiet and great for relaxing, with a lovely early chorus of birds, sheep and wildlife to wake you gently!
Parking was a squeeze and very dependent on who was around. In our case, it was fine for our stay but others may be less fortunate. There are several areas of wiring which have not yet been completed. More just an eyesore than dangerous. The coffee maker looked superb, but there were no available instructions. The aga looked absolutely gorgeous, but being permanently on me at that the kitchen was always incredibly warm bordering on hot. Ok during our visit over a cold weekend, but I suspect a problem in the summer months.

The photos don't do this house justice! A pleasant surprise to come to a huge house, cosy, it has 3 sitting areas, 4 good sized double rooms. Very clean and it's furnished with the best. Bed and duvet are very comfortable! We loved the log fire and the family played board games in the reading room. TV didn't work but staying over Christmas it didn't matter for us as we bonded, played games, read books. WiFi was fine. Also note the cooker/oven is oil fired Aga, which stays on all the time, we hadn't used before so quite an experience to use one. A cosy village with a lot of sites nearby. Great walk just outside the house. Go visit Malham Cove, Bolton Abbey and Fountains Abbey (must!).We made amazing memories. 100% recommend and would stay again. Recommended to other family who are looking to stay.

Great location for walking straight from the door and you won’t be disappointed with the scenery. The kitchen living space is homely and we loved the aga. Found the living spaces a little musky but bedrooms were tidy and beds extremely comfortable.

Spacious accommodation, lovely wood burner and living space, large bedrooms and lovely furniture. Beautiful location. Excellent location, very well decorated house, plenty of living space, 4 'proper' double bedrooms with very good mattresses, well fitted bathrooms, well equipped kitchen overall.
No dishwasher and quite a lot of downstairs light bulbs blown. The furniture in the main bedroom was dated and seemed out of keeping with the rest of the modern look, but this was aesthetics rather than function.

Home Truths
On site parking isn't available but free on street parking is available in the village of Burnsall. Spaces are on a first come first served basis and a permit is not required.
The Old Post Office can be difficult to find from the address of the property. We will send over a Google Pin of the exact location prior to arrival - we recommend referring to this to help you find the property.
The property spans over three floors so you will need to climb stairs during your stay.
The top floor en suite bedroom has sloped ceilings so we ask guests to mind their head as they navigate around the room.
