Set behind the kitchen and to the right of the staircase, you’ll find the cosy living area. With exposed brick walls and a dark leather sofa, this space feels snug and welcoming. Little quirks are added through the mismatched picture frames which adorn the walls and you’ll notice nods to Staithes history with sailing ornaments. A home from home, you can cuddle up on the corner sofa with your loved ones and enjoy quality time together. There is a TV with Freeview so you can keep on top of your favourite shows during your stay and also a DVD player if you’d like to bring some films along with you.
Head upstairs to the first floor and you’ll find the first bedroom and bathroom. With a boutique hotel feel, the first bedroom is spacious and stylish. There are spotlights in the ceiling and cool grey coloured walls. You’ll enjoy your nights sleep at Brunswick Cottage as the double bed boasts the finest quality bedding and linens. Ideal for lazy mornings, switch on the wall mounted TV to watch Freeview channels.
With white tiles and chrome throughout, the first bathroom is an ultra clean and modern space. It boasts a large walk in shower, WC and basin.
Take the stairs up the second floor to find the second bedroom, bathroom and top landing space. The second bedroom has a traditional cottage feel with sloped ceilings, stained glass features and a window looking out the quiet street below. The comfy double bed has plush bedding and crisp linens. There is ample storage space as the room has matching chests of drawers, bedside tables and hooks with hangers.
The second bathroom is located off the top landing space. With sloped ceilings and a huge velux window, the top landing is the perfect place to relax. Retreat up here and lose track of time watching the sky above.
From here, you step up into the second bathroom. This space features a bathtub, handheld shower, WC and basin. There is a skylight window in the sloped ceiling giving you the perfect view of the clouds and stars above.

Really clean and tidy, brilliant location.
Unfortunately my husband kept banging his head on the beams, some of the beams going to the third floor are very low.

Great location and modern appointed accommodation, worked well having two bathrooms for two couples. Just a short walk (less than 5 mins) to all the village pubs/cafes. Easy access to the Cleveland Way.
Parking space on change over day to load/unload was at a premium, But overall parking was fine if you use pre-booking through James. Didn’t have the need of the car all weekend as everything was in walking distance!

location was great , comfortable beds
low ceilings up stairs
no tv in top bedroom

Lovely little cottage. Very clean and everything you could need. Lovely spot in Staithes too. Would definitely stay again.

Brilliant location
The cottage is in desperate need of some TLC, the sofa is disgusting, it's so old and discolored with rips in it. The cottage had not been cleaned properly, cobwebs on the walls, sand on the sofa, dead flies on windowsill etc. Hand soap bottles have clearly being refilled for years, all had disgusting brown gunk built up on the necks of the bottles. Need a bigger tv downstairs, cannot see it from the sofa as it's such a strange angle.

Excellent location
Understand it is a pet friendly property but as non pet owners, there was a persistent smell of dog in lounge/kitchen & air fresheners needed.
22/11/2021
Staithes is perfect place for a friendly weekend away with friends and dogs. Fabulous local pubs and tea room
Really disappointed the log burner was no longer in cottage after we'd brought sack of logs up with us !

Broken fridge door / shower door of its runners /toilet flush broken / certainly not worth the price i paid

Broken fridge door.
Broken shower door.
Horrible minging cooking trays.

Location. The Host and Stay lady Sarah was apologetic and helpful.
Fridge broken but they did inform us of that. Downstairs not hoovered properly and a dirty rug. Several lights not working downstairs.Shower had hair in the standing area of the shower. On the first day we got locked in the cottage as the front door latch was broken we had to call out to passers by and hand the key to them to open the door from the outside.

Everything. ?
The hill. Being a pensioner with breathing problems the hill was just too much for me, I think it will be better if 24hr parking outside the cottages for residents would be very helpful and the icing on the cake.

Great location near shops pubs and harbour, good equipped kitchen.
Second bedroom the blinds were not suitable, bed uncomfortable and creeked, tv too small and not a smart tv in the lounge, toilet seat broken in master bedroom and not fixed despite reporting.

Nice cosy cottage, but spacious, great location, comfy beds
Not cleaned properly before arrival, broken glass in kitchen, rubbish from previous holiday makers still in the household bin.

Good location
Property not clean at all …we cleaned kitchen surfaces and floor on arrival.
toilet seat on 1st floor broken and could not sit on and the flush button broken off also had to push a screw
Bedroom carpet badly stained and dirty
Previous occupants wet towels still hanging on back of door
Leather sofa ripped and had hole in
Kitchen oven and pans very dirty and would/could not use
Property could have been lovely but felt very tired and overused but not maintained to the level expected

Spacious property, clean, value for money.
Couldn`t really fault much with the property.

Very good

The location was perfect for exploring Staithes, with the beach, shops and pub just a stone's throw away. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen we equipped and having both a shower and bath was great.
The cottage is beautiful but needs a little TLC and the cleaning felt like it wasn't as thorough as it could have been.

Accommodation had everything you would need
Short walk to beach and lovely pubs

I have no issue with the principle of charging healthy market rates for holiday properties in peak season ... but Brunswick Cottage fell very short of providing value for money.
I've already been in direct communication with the host company and they were very receptive to my feedback.
Poor cleanliness throughout ... anyone can surface clean and vacuum between guests, but this cottage is well overdue a deep clean, window clean, furniture update, has numerous defects to repair, all white goods need maintenance, kitchen equipment needs attention (broken dustpan, broken washing up bowl, lacks grater & chopping board), and previous guests' rubbish really shouldn't be left overflowing outside when new guests arrive.
Lots to improve upon here. Lovely village, helpful check-in instructions and parking assistance though.

Absolutely nothing!

Great location. Very clean. Would definitely book the accommodation again.

Staithes is beautiful, a really lovely place to visit, with lots of equally lovely places to visit in driving distance. The house is really centrally located and everything needed is within walking distance which is great (just check opening times). The house is nice, with plenty of space and everything you need.
It wasn't what you would call home from home, it feels as if it is far removed from being a family home, the general wear and tear of the place as well as the contents of the cupboards makes it feels very much like a student house. The loo roll holder was broken, the lights flashed when you turned them on, just in general need of some TLC. All of this is passable for a short holiday, but what was not passable was how dirty the place was. In a time when people are paranoid of catching a virus, it didn't make me feel safe at all, and I think the cleaning was left to the people who left the house before us. We have a 10mth old baby and so I spent a lot of time on the floor crawling around, and it was quite disgusting. As well as the pots and pans, that were equally grim.

Beautifully decorated to high standard modern 2 bed cottage with 2 bathrooms and sofa bed. Well equipped kitchen with dishwasher washing machine and drier. Comfy and large sofa. Kitchen table seating 4. Great location in centre of village and perfect for walkers who want to walk the Cleveland Way.
Too many email contacts re booking.

Fantastic cottage, in a wonderful location. Really well equipped, very clean, cosy and cool! Well located for all amenities..also suggest booking to park in the Glen Vale car park.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful quiet seaside village

Very good
14/05/2021
Situated in the heart of Staithes and within easy reach of all the village facilities as well as surrounding towns. Well appointed with all the appliances that you need for a short stay as well as clean & tidy.
There are a few small things that need repairing and the TV downstairs could do with an upgrade to a Smart TV of at least 40inch.
13/05/2021
This is my 4th stay in Staithes and second stay at Brunswick ...characterful, comfortable and great position. The bedrooms and bathrooms are superb. The kitchen is fully equipped. The lounge could be more spacious and better arranged but we were not in the cottage so much to worry about that. Local amenities, pubs, shops, cafes are all in easy reach and are excellent character for the brilliant village of Staithes.

Superb refurbishment, lovely decor, very comfortable, first class kitchen/dining area. Great location.

Staithes is raved about and whilst I see its charm its a little tired. Perhaps COVID has had an impact. The property was clean and tidy but is close to that tipping point where items need refreshing. A small TV is a minor thing and so are splits in the washing up bowl and brush pan. A few other minor things were niggles nothing more. The beds were crisp clean but both mattresses were either too soft or worn out? The property was in an ideal location . There is no outdoor space but that's the same for many in the area. Overall we enjoyed our stay and its nice to say we've been to Staithes and Brunswick Cottage.
21/04/2021
The bed - super comfy!!
Nothing really to dislike.
The car parking is now £10 for 24 hours and not £5 ad advertised, which we think is very high for people staying in the village.

Location amazing
Everything was great (the only thing maybe would be the heating to be on before we arrived)
11/12/2020
Excellent location, property clean, everything provided.
Door lock sticky and difficult to lock / unlock.
05/11/2020
Brilliant location, everything was super clean and tidy. Very easy to check in/out. Felt very covid secure

Great location and facilities and very warm and comfortable
Nothing that would stop us coming back. The door is very hard to unlock from the inside but that can be fixed.

Cottage was well equipped, clean and homely. Information given by letting company spot on. The Accomodation is on 3 floors. The middle floor bedroom was roomy, warm and comfortable, which we used, with adjoining toilet and shower room. The top floor bedroom, not used, has a low ceiling as it is an attic conversion so anyone over 5ft will have to watch their heads. But it has a bath and toilet room adjoining. The kitchen and living space on the ground floor is looking out onto the main street at ground level so make sure you wear clothes or keep the blinds down as some passers by walk down the steps, past your window and up the steps at the other side. The apartment is near the bottom of the high street, 50 yards from the Royal George pub and 100 yards from the Cod and Lobster pub. It is near the bridge which crosses the beck to cowbar.Location spot on.

Location good for pubs and beach
Traffic noise bad in the morning
13/10/2020
The kitchen was very well stocked, everything you could want. The heating worked very quickly to make the cottage warm and cosy. The beds were very comfortable, great duvet and pillows. Fantastic location.
There was a bit of wear and tear on the furniture in the lounge and dining area and the toilet could do with a nice clean seat.

Lovely cottage. Very cosy, clean and all facilities you need.
Little not to like, but constructive criticism would be:- suggest you try to Stabilise cooker as it is unstable if you open the oven doors. Microwave very noisy and sounds as though it is about to die.

The property was clean, but the windowsills were full of dead flies, the back courtyard area was absolutely revolting with dirt, rubbish and a terrible smell. Also, the skylight in the living area was full of bird mess. The top floor bedroom had no curtains or blackout blinds, this meant the room was flooded with the street lights. The beds were also uncomfortable due to being able to feel the springs. Sleeping on the sofa was much more comfortable. The property was listed on Booking.com as pet friendly but when we arrived we were told that they must stay downstairs and off the furniture, that is not being pet friendly and left our dogs with not much space as there was also no outside space. We would not book again because of these reasons.

The property was modern with great interiors and decor.
The location was ideal for Staithes and for getting to Robin Hoods Bay and Whitby.

Nice cottage all as described. Staithes is a pretty village but the hill is very steep so not suitable for those with walking difficulties. Would advise that you book tables at the pubs well before hand.
24/09/2020
Location excellent and the decor was beautifully designed throughout. Great to have two bathrooms on two different floors - excellent for Staithes.
There needed to be a little sorting out to do re: levelling the fridge and the lighting fused when we were there. Despite it advertised as a place for 6, the dining table only seated 4.

Great location in village. Excellent facilities. Very comfortable. Very clean
07/09/2020
The cottage is ideally located in the centre of the village. It’s a beautiful, clean quirky place. The kitchen is well equipped. The beds were very clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed playing cards around the kitchen table and kicking off our walking boots at the end of the day to relax on the sofa.
