The location and parking space were great.
The property wasn’t that clean and would benefit from a deep clean, considering what we had to pay for cleaning. The rug in the lounge was dirty and smelt, the handrails up the stairs were sticky and needed a thorough wipe. There was a lot of dog hair in the bedrooms - we understand that pets are allowed but a better hoover is required to remove them. The kitchen facilities were a bit sparse, more glasses are required and a sieve would be appreciated.

We liked the location and the cottage itself was nice and quaint
the cleanliness, the cottage was very dirty, smelly and the facilities were extremely tired nothing like the pictures we booked it from

The location and the unique seaside cottage. The property is nice but in need of maintenance. The outside area needs attention, in particular the gulls nest outside the kitchen and subsequent mess.
Please see above. In addition, the fridge would not close properly due to freezer being iced up. Bathroom door wouldn’t close then fell off it’s hinges. Unable to use the coffee machine - coffee pods supplied did not fit.

cosy and good location. great to have a parking space.
the windows were very dirty and we had to clean the ground floor ones in order to see out.
insufficient glasses.

location and lovely cottage with outdoor terrace
the outdoor terrace needs to be more inviting. a table to go with the chairs would be nice and it requires maintenance. smashed plant pots, plants need taking care of, walls need repainting. for £600 fir 2 nights I would expect the property to be in great condition…this just let it down

Very good

Perfect location, with a wonderful view at the back. One allocated car parking space, which is essential, as there is no parking available in the village. The log-burner was lovely.
The standard of cleaning was not great. All the bedding was fresh and clean, but the windows were very dirty and the outside space required cleaning. A few light bulbs were missing. The letterbox won't close which allows cold air to get in.

wonderful quaint cottage in the heart of Staithes overlooking the beck. Just perfect. Heads were bumped a few times, at 6ft 7 my son had the most but that will not stop us from returning! We had a great time during our stay, the village had such a friendly atmosphere too
nothing to see here!

Great stay. We stayed midweek so Staithes was less busy that normal. We loved having the place to ourselves. The house was as described, lovely to have the veranda overlooking the river. Great to have 2 bathrooms. We stayed as a group of 4 so didn’t use the 3rd bedroom so couldn’t comment on wether it is too cramped for a group of 6 but I think it would be fine. There are some areas of the house where you need to duck when walking but I am
6ft7in so this is to be an expectation in an old cottage. Overall, I’d visit again. Lovely place.

The location, the parking bay, log burner, oven, washing machine, very comfortable beds, good sharp knives, view across the beck, the tiled floors, interesting books, easily adjusted heating, tea coffee and milk provided, ample hot water, towels and toiletries.
Nowhere to hang coats, hats, or dressing gowns.
The letterbox in the door needs adjusting to stay shut, we held open house parties for two storms; Dudley and Eunice...
The bedroom windows also welcomed these winds. We used kitchen paper to block the draughts.
There is no tin opener.
The extreme height of the dining table -Hilarious!

Fab location and bonus of a parking space

Although I was unable to go due to Covid my two sons still went and were really happy with their stay at Gull Cottage - in their words :

“We loved the stay. The bed was really comfy and everything was clean and well kept. Nice kitchen with all the amenities. Great location with nice view of the inlet.”

I was only sorry I missed out, it all looked beautiful from the video calls I did with them while they were there and will definitely plan to stay there at some point in the future.

it was warm and cosy, extremely well equipped.
beautiful furnishings
log burner & blankets
location was great
parking space a real bonus

no logs for the fire but the chap at the Cod & Lobster kindly gave us some ?

You can’t really go wrong. Lovely atmospheric cottage oozing charm and character in a perfect location only steps from the pub: wonderful deli across the street and doorstep parking.
It doesn’t claim to be perfect but nothing we encountered detracted from our enjoyment.
Go with an open mind and you won’t be disappointed….

Great location in Staithes and would recommend the house to others

Great location right in the centre of a Staithes. Not much around but everywhere walkable. Nice contained yard at the back overlooking the estuary. Great if you have dogs. Good wifi. Accommodation is nicely presented. Fab pizzas and cakes ext door oh and homemade sausage rolls!!
Being picky here but hope it helps Sofas a little uncomfortable, no dishwasher tablets when asked to run dishwasher on exit, luke warm water, low outside wall to the estuary so watch if you are tall or excited dogs. Could do with a deep clean. First bedroom radiator did not work. Was given the wrong pin for the lock box, was told parking was available at £5 all day in public car park, did not know there was a designated parking space until day 2 from the friendly folk next door.

Parking space and terrace were great. Location was excellent.
Walls could do with being repainted, quite alot of cracks and chips

Property was handy for everything and having the benefit of a parking space.
Peeling paint in bedroom did not expect from such a highly rated property.

Gulls Haven Cottage is an absolute delight. Cosy and comfortable, with a perfect view of the inlet. Nicely situated just off the main , cobbled , street, where there are several individual shops and places to eat. Staithes is quietly upmarket and casual. We all loved it.

A lovely property in a great place but didn't warrant the amount paid.
The bunk beds , steep stairs and low ceilings proved difficult for our group plus a bit of TLC would definitely benefit this property.
Great views over the inlet from the terrace, comfy beds and nice kitchen but a few things did disappoint.

Perfect holiday home for 2 young families, lovely view from the patio and great location. Added bonus of one parking space with the property.

Very good

Gulls Haven is a fabulous cottage in a perfect location in Staithes. The rooms were as shown, it was comfortable, cosy and met all our needs. There is a car park space right by the property and two great pubs nearby. The outdoor area is perfect for pre dinner drinks and has a view of the estuary.

We fell in love with Gull’s Haven and Staithes!

The location of the cottage is absolutely perfect, in the heart of the village with parking space. The only challenge we had was finding the parking space, as it wasn’t too obvious. However, that’s a minor thing in the overall context. The house is lovely, the view is out of this world!!

Highly recommended….

Lovely cottage right on the Harbour at Staithes. Has everything you need for your stay. We had a family wedding in Sandsend so the location was ideal and perfect base to go off exploring!

Just came back from a really nice holiday at Gull's Haven. Lovely holiday home in the perfect location in Staithes, a stone's throw from 2 pubs and in the old cobbled part. The house has everything you need and comfortably furnished. The loft room with the en suite is up a further flight of stairs that is more like a ladder, so not suitable for someone less secure on their feet. The floor of this room is sloping, but this is part of staying in an old cottage. Perhaps the owners could wedge the bed at the far side to stop both occupants of the bed rolling into each other. Expect a lot of seagulls with this property and they are loud (the clue is in the name), but this will be the case with any holiday cottage in Staithes. The balcony/terrace is really nice with a lovely view of Cowbar and the river, but it is not private as members of the public walking across the bridge do like to look at you, it didn't bother me but if absolute privacy is important it's not for you. The wall of the terrace is low in places so if you have a toddler or an energetic dog you won't let them out onto it alone, it is a fall to certain death. But with the dog on a lead we all enjoyed sitting out with a glass of wine in the evening. The place is set up to accept dogs which is very thoughtful, hard floors everywhere mean there is little signs of previous pets. There are no smoke alarms at all in the house, which I am sure are required for any holiday let, but this is something that is fixable by the owners. Also the bathroom door didn't shut easily nor lock which is something else the owners need to sort. Kitchen is really nice with everything you need, we had a Sainsbury's delivery straight to the cottage on day 1 and they found it easily - it's not difficult to find - next to the Cobbles ice cream shop as the main road goes round a corner. The parking space is a real advantage, though with all the cars reversing and turning round on the corner I wouldn't want to park a flashy car there. I think it was expensive for what it was, but this is August in 2021 and pressure on holiday lets is tight with travel restrictions, so I don't begrudge paying for it as the owners will have just had a year with no lettings. All in all a great holiday home; with some smoke detectors and the ability to lock the door when you are sat on the loo I would happily recommend.

a lovely family cottage with a beautuful view . we really enjoyed our stay and will be sure to return.

Great quirky little cottage, plenty of room, clean , great location, perk of close location parking, nice little balcony over the water.
Be aware of your head if your over 5ft5 ?

The cottage location is good and the private parking space a real asset in this village. The inside is OK but external areas are dirty and unkempt

Very good

Lovely cottage in a great position in Staithes, with the bonus of a car parking space which is quite rare in the area. Balcony was a great bonus and a sun trap for drinks and people watching in the late afternoon!

The location of the cottage was good.
The bedding was clean
Bathrooms were clean
The whole cottage needs a deep clean.
The sofas need replacing.
The outside seating area was filthy of seagull poo.
Wasn’t keen on Staithes. Not a patch on Robin Hoods Bay.

Dirty floors dirty balcony door hanging off shower didn’t work

My partner and I booked a few days get away post lockdown and picked staithes Gulls cottage is a little underwhelming from the front but the moment we went inside we fell in love It’s a beautiful cottage, in the perfect location and furnished to a high standard with everything you could need Stay NorthYorkshire were so helpful with info prior to arrival and the cottage was spotless It can sleep and accommodate 6 comfortably, which is not always the case with these cottages and we are planing on returning later in the year with another coupleThe stairs to the attic are a little steep, but take your time and you’ll be fine - the outside space is lovely and gets the sun in the afternoon and evening I could not fault it in anyway and what would could you want?

Great stay location is perfect super sunny terrace good for early evening drinks. host was great.

Nice and quiet good location, very clean parking was good, and just a short walk from the beach.

Nothing really the only small thing, were the upper bed was not very comfortable as seemed to slope to the middle. And the garden has a very low fence which could be a hazard. Only our dog is very excitable and wanted look over which could of caused accident.

Excellent accommodation, thank you.

The house was great for our family, centrally located in the village with great views and added benefit of parking at the house. Any queries we had were responded to immediately, even at the weekend,

Location couldnt have been any better. Facilities within the property met our every need.
Everything was perfect.

Brilliant cottage in a prime location with its own parking is something special in this lovely little Fishing village. What a location, what a cottage what a nice stay.

Lovely cottage in a great location with added bonuses of outside space with views of the estuary and a table with chairs, but also a parking spot. The cottage was actually pretty spacious for Staithes. The photos on booking.com are very accurate. Was clean and comfortable. Beds extremely comfy. Toiletries supplied. The kitchen was very well equipped and had tea, coffee and milk supplied. Quite low ceilings if you’re tall! Wifi good. The Emersion heater is in the kitchen which may need turning on. We wondered why we had no hot water Day 2!
Nothing, we loved it!

not applicable
The sofas were well used stained , very uncomfortable and had crumbs under the cushions also dog hairs on
The kitchen was dirty in places
Lights were dusty , bedhead dusty, under bed layer of dust
The car space is only any use for a small car as it is on an incline our car would have scraped the cobbles underneath also people queue around the cars while waiting to be served at the ice cream parlour

The location was fabulous.... for viewing the beck; people watching as families walked over the bridge; the harbour & beach just a short walk away; Cobbles icecream shop nextdoor, the George pub, Dotty's tearoom and a fab sweet shop all very close. The cottage was clean and comfortable with plenty of cleaning supplies and toilet rolls. The beds and sofas were great for relaxing. The kitchen was well stocked with cutlery, crockery, glasses, pans, baking sheets and dishes etc. The car parking spot was super too!
Very little! I couldn't find our recycling bin so I brought it all home. There were no dishwasher tablets otherwise it was very well stocked for cleaning materials. Some of the doors need a little WD40 as they creeeeak!

A great location in a lovely seaside village, lovely interior decoration and well kitted out for all our needs. The beds are extremely comfortable. The interior was also lovely and clean. Stay were great hosts and their communication and quick responses were much appreciated. Thank you

Great little location and with parking which is a rarity in Staithes. Good view of the harbour as well conveniently next to a local ice cream/pizza/coffee shop.

Lovely house in charming Staithes. Mother and father in law, sister in law, wife and Baby joined me for a week. The seagulls are MASSIVE and LOUD and expect to get woken up by them. This is the seaside though. Handsome terrace outside but no gas for for gas fired bbq. The sun goes down on the terrace, which is beautiful. The window in the top room does not open, which is a problem in July, making it quite difficult to sleep. Lovely touches throughout the house including a wonderful book selection. I can’t fault the cleanliness, which is so important in these COVID-19 times. A special pad from which to explore the North Yorkshire coast.

Couldn’t recommend this property more. It is located right in the heart of the fishing village only 100 yards away from a lovely little pub. It boasts a stunning terrace overlooking the harbour and the cottage itself is modern yet in keeping with a traditional cottage style. Will definitely be returning and recommending to all friends and family.

Quirky comfortable cottage, excellent views & location. Bed very comfortable slept really well.
Fridge door hard to close & food in the door didn’t feel cold. A downstairs toilet & another shower would have been advantageous.

We had a lovely stay in Staithes at Gull's Haven. The property is in a brilliant location for Staithes and easily accessible to the gorgeous beaches nearby at Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Whitby. The owners were really quick to respond to our queries which we really appreciated. Thank you!

Great cottage lovely location very well equipped and clean. Very good instructions and response from the agents. The master bed room is better suited to 1 person as the bed is tricky to access.

A home from home. Spotless and the parking space was a bonus.

A cozy but spacious house in a spectacular location. Just a minutes wall to the lovely Cod and Lobster pub which is hugely friendly. The amenities are great and it's a lovely house to return back to after a day walking the cliff tops.

The whole place, plenty of room for myself, 2 teenage children and 2 dogs. Views from the window over looking the harbour! Plus a parking space outside the house.
Goto Dottys tearoom.. Amazing place.. Again everyone's really friendly... And accepting of dogs!
N/a about the house itself. Only thing I'd mention would be that building / renovation work is being completed next door. So potentially noise. ( really lovely people though.. Very considerate!!)
